Highland Dancing is rooted in centuries-old Scottish History. Modern-day Highland is technically precise. Besides being beautiful to watch, the requirement of peak fitness means it provides a superb work-out. especially for those not keen on gyms or running. Socially, friendships forged in the Highland community last 'forever'. The precision of the dance has also found its psychotherapeutic application in children with learning, emotional and physical problems. Pietermaritzburg used to have a strong Highland Dancing contingent, and we are working hard to get this back.
